Driver card
Which card reader do I need?
Any USB smart card reader for contact chip cards (CCID / PC/SC), sold as “USB-C smart card reader”, “ID card / CAC reader” or “EMV smart card reader”. Android phones need USB OTG (most have it); a USB-A reader works with a USB-C OTG adapter. On the Mac any USB reader works. NFC / contactless readers are not supported.
How do I import a .DDD file?
Open the file from Files, Mail or the share sheet and choose HGV Driver Companion, or use More → Driver card → Import .DDD file. Review the days and tap Apply. Nothing is saved until you tap Apply. Your diary (deliveries, trailer, expenses, notes) is never changed by the card.
Account and sync
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works on one device without it. Create an HGV account (Settings → Account) to sync between iPhone, Mac and Android.
How do I delete my account or data?
Settings → Account → Delete Account. Full details: Delete account.
Using the app
Break reminders are not arriving
Allow notifications for HGV Driver Companion in your phone's settings (on iPhone also Time Sensitive alerts), then start your shift from Home.
My 48-hour average looks wrong
Set your reference period (standard or rolling 17 weeks) and leave in Settings → Rules.
Can the app replace my tachograph?
No. It is a personal log and planning tool. See the Compliance Disclaimer.
Subscriptions
- Manage or cancel: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
- Refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple) or the Google Play refund policy (Google).
- New device: Restore Purchases on the paywall, or sign in to your HGV account.
