1. How connecting works
- In Moneta, tap Add account → Connect a bank and choose your bank.
- Review what will be shared: account names, balances and transactions. Access is read-only.
- You're sent securely to your bank's own app or website to log in and approve. Moneta never sees your password.
- Your bank returns you to Moneta, and your accounts sync.
Connections are provided by Yapily Connect Ltd, authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Services Regulations 2017 (FRN 827001) for account information services. Yapily is named on the consent screen before you connect. See Yapily's End User Terms and Privacy Notice.
Supported banks
Most UK banks, building societies and credit cards that support open banking, including Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank, Santander, Nationwide, TSB, Monzo, Starling, Revolut, First Direct, Metro Bank, Virgin Money, Co-operative Bank, Chase UK, Tide, American Express and Barclaycard, plus over 2,000 banks across Europe (for example ING, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, N26, BBVA, Santander, UniCredit, Rabobank, Bank of Ireland, PKO BP and mBank). The full, current list is shown in the App when you tap Connect a bank.
2. Why connections expire
Your bank connection will expire, normally every 90 days, and you'll need to re-authorise it. This is a security requirement of UK and EU open-banking rules, not a fault in the App.
A connection may also stop earlier if you:
- change your online-banking password or security details
- get a new card or account number
- revoke access in your bank's app (usually under "Connected apps" or "Open banking")
- or if your bank ends the consent for its own reasons.
3. How to re-authorise
- When access expires (or is about to), Moneta asks you to reauthorise the connection.
- Open Settings → Linked connections (or tap the banner) and tap Reauthorize.
- Approve again at your bank. It takes about 20 seconds.
While a connection is expired, Moneta keeps the last data it received, and your safe-to-spend and budgets may be out of date. History you've already synced is never deleted by expiry.
4. Disconnecting
You can remove a connection at any time in Moneta (Settings → Linked connections) or in your bank's app. Once you disconnect, no new data is collected. Delete the account in Moneta to remove its stored history too.
5. Safety
- Read-only: no one can make payments through Moneta.
- Moneta will never ask for your bank password, PIN or one-time codes by email, phone or message.
- Suspicious message claiming to be Moneta? Forward it to info@annmarlimited.co.uk.
6. No bank connection? Import instead
If your bank isn't supported, export a CSV statement from your bank and use Add account → Upload a statement. Any column layout works.
